Etsy's fee structure, explained (July 13, 2026)

FeeRateApplies to
Listing fee$0.20Each listing; renews every 4 months and per extra quantity sold
Transaction fee6.5%Item price + shipping + gift wrap (excludes US sales tax)
Payment processing (US)3% + $0.25Order total including sales tax
Offsite Ads (attributed orders only)15% / 12%Item + shipping + gift wrap, excl. tax; capped at $100/order

A worked example: $25 item + $5 shipping, organic sale, one listing fee — $0.20 + 6.5% × $30 ($1.95) + 3% × $30 + $0.25 ($1.15) = $3.30 in fees, an 11% effective rate. The same order attributed to an Offsite Ad at 15% adds $4.50 — more than doubling the fees. Price ad-attributed orders accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Etsy charge per sale in 2026?
Three core fees: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping and gift wrap, and — for US sellers — a payment processing fee of 3% + $0.25. If the order came from an Offsite Ad, an additional 12–15% fee applies. Together they typically take 10–25% of an order.
Does Etsy charge fees on sales tax?
Partly — and this is where most calculators go wrong. The 6.5% transaction fee does not apply to US sales tax, but the payment processing fee (3% + $0.25) is charged on the total including tax. This calculator models both bases correctly.
How do Etsy Offsite Ads fees work?
Etsy advertises your listings on Google, Facebook, and elsewhere. When a buyer clicks one of those ads and orders within 30 days, you pay 15% of the order (item + shipping + gift wrap, excluding US sales tax). Once your shop has made $10,000 in any 365-day period, participation becomes mandatory for the life of the shop but the rate drops to 12%. The fee is capped at $100 per order.
When is the $0.20 listing fee charged more than once?
Each listing lasts four months and auto-renews at $0.20. If a buyer purchases multiple quantities of the same listing in one order, each additional quantity triggers another $0.20 auto-renew fee. Slow-moving inventory that renews several times before selling quietly accumulates listing fees — the calculator lets you count them.
Is Etsy cheaper than eBay?
It depends on the order. Etsy's 6.5% + 3% + $0.25 stack is often close to eBay's ~13.6% + $0.40 for mid-priced items, but Offsite Ads can push Etsy far higher, while eBay Store discounts and category rates can pull eBay lower. Run the same numbers through our marketplace comparison to see both side by side.
Is this calculator affiliated with Etsy?
No — Sell After Fees is independent. Rates come from Etsy's published fee policy and help pages (linked below), last verified July 13, 2026. Your exact fees always appear in your Etsy payment account.
