Frequently asked questions

How much does eBay take per sale in 2026?
For most categories, eBay's final value fee is 13.6% up to $7,500, then 2.35% of the total amount of the sale, plus a fixed $0.30 per order ($0.40 for orders over $10). Category exceptions, Store subscriptions, Promoted Listings, and surcharges move that number up or down — which is exactly what this calculator models.
Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
Yes. The final value fee applies to the total amount of the sale: item price, handling, the shipping option the buyer chose, sales tax, and other applicable fees. Sales tax is collected and remitted by eBay, but the fee percentage is still charged on it — a detail many calculators get wrong.
What changed in eBay fees on July 1, 2026?
eBay escalated its performance surcharges. Sellers rated Below Standard for 4+ consecutive months now pay an additional 7% (up from 6%), and sellers with a Very High “item not as described” rate for 4+ consecutive months pay an additional 6% (up from 5%). US category fee percentages did not change. This calculator includes both the standard and escalated surcharges.
Do eBay Store subscribers pay lower fees?
Basic Store and above get a discounted schedule in many categories — for most categories 12.7% up to $2,500, then 2.35% instead of 13.6% up to $7,500, then 2.35%, with bigger discounts in electronics, computers, coins, and watches. A Starter Store does not get discounted rates — it mainly adds free listings. Use the store-tier selector to compare.
How do Promoted Listings fees work?
With a general Promoted Listings campaign you choose an ad rate between 2% and 100% of the total sale amount. Since January 13, 2026, the fee is charged when a promoted item is purchased within 30 days of any click on the ad. It's charged in addition to final value fees — enter your ad rate to see the real impact.
What is the eBay international fee?
If the delivery address or the buyer's registered address is outside the US, eBay adds 1.65% of the total sale amount — unless you use eBay International Shipping, which is exempt.
Why is there no per-order fee on my sneaker sale?
Athletic shoes selling for $150 or more use a flat 8% final value fee (7% with a Basic+ Store) and are exempt from the per-order fee. Under $150, normal category rates and the per-order fee apply — the calculator switches automatically.
Is this calculator affiliated with eBay?
No. Sell After Fees is an independent tool. Every rate comes from eBay's published fee pages (linked below) and was last verified July 13, 2026. Your account's exact fees are always shown by eBay at listing and checkout.

Sources — official fee pages this calculator is built from

Rates are re-verified against these pages before each fee-rules release. If a marketplace changes its fees, the change log records what changed and when. Results are estimates — your account's exact fees are always shown at checkout or in your seller dashboard.
